Criminal Investigations Unit
The Criminal Investigations Unit of the Law Enforcement Division consists of a Sergeant and one Deputy Sheriff- Investigator. The members of the Criminal Investigations Unit are responsible for investigating all types of crime that occur in Liberty County and to network information with other law enforcement agencies for crime suppression. The Criminal Investigations Unit’s primary function is to determine the identity of perpetrators of these crimes based upon the facts and evidence and to coordinate with the prosecuting attorney throughout the criminal prosecution of the offender.
In addition to their normal investigative functions, the Criminal Investigations Unit is also responsible for conducting address and registration verification for all sexual offenders and predators in Liberty County to ensure they are in compliance with Chapter 943, Florida Statutes.
